I'm sure your dentist did not say 0.5 mm of grinding. It is insufficient. Even if you go for full contour zirconia bridge, you need to grind down at least 1 mm of tooth. For a ceramic fused to metal bridge you need to grind down at least 2 mm from the top of the tooth and 1.0 to 1.5mm from the sides. Any less grinding and you risk fracture or separation of ceramic from the metal. Zirconia bridge will be much more expensive than the regular ceramic fused to metal bridge. What is your reservation/fear regarding implants? They are quick and painless. For a single tooth replacement it takes much less time to place an implant than it takes to grind two adjacent teeth. When we use implants the adjacent teeth are left totally untouched. You don't lose any tooth structure from a virgin tooth. Also implants maintain bone level for a longtime. They do cost a little more but the benefits outweigh the expenses. Srikanth H R
