Sometimes periapical infection might have a wider span covering more than 1 tooth. So Root canal treatment will also be done to the adjacent tooth. In that context, ur lateral incisor also might have been RCT treated. Every RCT treated tooth will turn into blackish color over a period of time, which needs a cap ultimately for masking it. U can go for Zirconia/ Lava crowns/ E max crowns as suggested by my other colleagues for very good esthetics.

Hi, I can understand your concern. Black tooth suggests it needs RCT. Let me explain - In case of injury or trauma to a tooth, either a tooth fractures or its pulp (nerve & vessels) dies away. Most probably this has what happened with your lateral incisor and such tooth needs RCT. But in your case either RCT has not been done or it was incomplete, so over 10 years that dead pulp has decomposed and has become black giving black color to the tooth. Now you need RCT for black tooth followed by crown, also you can get your other crown changed. Lot of options are available for crowns. You can choose according to your choice, I would suggest to go for E-Max crowns. Hope it will help.Take care.

Wen traumas do occur it ll b diff to say which teeth ve been damaged wen not broken.. But ultimately the teeth ll get infected slowly n become necrosed n die... As ur one tooth was broken , after rct dentist has put cap... But as now the adjacent tooth has turned black , then it s for sure , the particular tooth has undergone necrosis slowly with time... Get rct done for that tooth soon n u get the cap done for both the teeth together for better esthetics...
