You took an emergency contraceptive pill within 24 hours, which is highly effective (>85–95%) as per World Health Organization. Sex occurred just after periods → already low pregnancy risk Took pill within 24 hrs → risk further reduced Delay of periods (even up to 2–3 weeks) is common after emergency pills A faint positive followed by negative test is usually due to: Very early hormonal fluctuation / false-positive Not a continuing pregnancy
Next Steps
Repeat a urine pregnancy test after 1 week (first morning sample) If still negative → pregnancy is very unlikely If periods don’t come by 4 weeks delay, do: Blood test (serum beta-hCG)
Health Tips
Emergency pills commonly disturb cycle timing No symptoms + negative test → reassuring No need to panic at this stage consult if : Period not coming >4 weeks Lower abdominal pain or unusual bleeding
