Culture report negative

Question

Asked for Male, 35 Years

My 19 days baby was diagnosed with early Sepsis. After treatment the final Culture report is negative. Should I continue Meropenem 80 mg for another 3 days? 7 days course is already complete. CRP is below 7.8. Hemo is 10.5. Baby Weight is 1750 gms.

Please follow your Neonatologist advise. It not you or other doctors who can decide on that. Those who has treated the baby should decide on that. They will be seeing your baby's response in NICU 24x7. If response is good they may stop the antibiotics. Investigations are just to guide the treatment and doctor has to go with clinical response. Preterm babies you should not take risk.
