Hey, We tend to have many fears in us which help us to be vigilant and survive in adverse situations. A person without certain extent of fear can become a threat to his own survival. However when any fear takes a toll on us, we need to understand why there is a fear exceeding the requirement of situation and manage the fear accordingly. Having said this i see that you are affected by claustrophobia only since a month which indicates confinement in a closed space which triggered phobic response somewhere that time..?? We would need to go through & understand the exact situation as well as your reaction pattern to help you overcome the intense fear. Closed space is a symbol for security & protection as well as that for confinement & seclusion. Think about different places with walls and confinement here and you would realize that yo u have been leading life in closed spaces like house or office. Can you think of living under the sky without a closed space like 4 walls of your house..?? So, closed space need not be the criteria here but one without light & ventilation..?? However in most of the places there is a possibility of light & ventilation. A place where there is no help, well, in this densely populated & widely connected world, there aren't many situations where there is no help. However this sense of missing help could be within 4 walls of your mind where you haven't allowed anyone including you, to peep in so far..?? This is how you could reason out & understand your phobia better. Once you are little more confident, try a situation which might cause a small extent of phobic reaction. Keep observing yourself when you make this attempt. Later process the emotions & understand the reasons for your phobia a little more. Practice an altered reaction for the next effort. Eventually, with few more efforts, you will overcome the phobia for closed spaces. If your mind came up with this extreme reaction it as well can master it. Give it a chance. Do not give up till you can stand for more than 10 minutes in there calmly. It's an adventure overcoming phobia, just like everything else you have mastered in your life so far. Do not hesitate to opt for counseling if you prefer professional help during the process. Good Luck
