My mother fell off few stairs & hurt the area under her breast on 30th. She is having acute pain in the area. So, we have gotten a xray done yesterday, xray report says skiagram shows # in the right 6th rib. She is having trouble while coughing and sneezing and can't turn on her own. She was also suffering from fever and has nausea. Please suggest course of treatment.

Ideally you should consult a general surgeon to have your lungs condition examined after the fracture, ribs can hurt the lungs and cause damage. Otherwise. In case it's a minor injury. The pain will subside in a couple of weeks. Take steam inhalation and painkillers for 4 to 5 days. You can also wear a chest belt if pain is intolerable. Sometimes I give injection at the fracture to make it painless in my patients. Ask your nearby doctor if that's possible.
Next Steps
fever and nausea needs to be consulted to a physician.
Health Tips
get vitamin d injection to heal fracture quickly
