Chemical peel good for acne?
I have medium acne on my skin. I usually try to pop a pimple and it leaves scars or dark spots. I have tried BPO Gel which was effective. My doctor suggested chemical peeling treatment, 5 sessions once every 2 weeks. I have a wheatish complexion. Should I consider a chemical peel? Is it just a fleecing strategy by the doctor? Does it have side effects? How long does the redness stay after the peel? Thanks in advance.

Greetings . Chemical peels are very effective treatment in cure of acne and post acne pigmentation. You can surely go ahead with sessions for chemical peel. Choice of peel depends upon skin type, existing acne or not, pigmentation or not. Peels helps in reducing acne, preventing recurring acne, preventing scars etc . Most commonly used peel in active acne is salicylic acid peels. Others that are commonly used for associated pigmentation, dull skin are jessners peel, yellow peel etc. For best results, post peel care is very important like strict sun protection, routine application of moisturisers. In your case, don't manipulate acne with nails cos it can lead to long term marks and scars.
Health Tips
Consult dermatologist for best results. Now a days , various centres are being run by therapist without in depth knowledge and that can lead to improper or wrong treatments.
