What are the exacerbating factors for cervical cancer? How early should a girl be taken for a PAP smear and gynecological exam to spot early signs of cervical cancer, and nip it in the bud?

Risk factors for cervical cancer: early age at first sexually activity, having multiple sexually partners, smoking, using oral contraceptive pills for more that 5 years, not having Pap smears, if you have any organ transplant and on immune-suppressant medications, if you have had any sexually transmitted diseases in the past. The first Pap smear test is done after a lady has been sexually active for 3 years. What we generally advice is that if a lady is < 30yrs she should have Pap smear yearly and after 30 years and up to the age of 65yrs she needs to do Pap smear + HPV DNA testing once in 3 yrs.
