Regarding the treatment of your mom’s sister: Even if she has only pT1cN0(sn), and ER and PR are strong pos with low ki67, which are all good factors, her age is only 40 years. She can receive hormonal therapy after doing a panel like OncotypeDx. This test analyses certain genes and predict if she will benefit from chemotherapy. If risk score is low, chemotherapy can be safely avoided. Otherwise it’s better to do chemotherapy.
There is significant family history. Breast cancer in a first degree relative less than 50 years is indication for BRCA Germline testing. Both mother and her sister can do this blood test . If BRCA is positive this will help guide moms sisters further treatment and also other relatives’ screening and prophylactic treatments if necessary.
As of now, follow standard guidelines for Sonomammogram once in 2 years.
Next Steps
BRCA Germline testing for your Mom and her sister. Oncotype Dx for mom’s sister.
