My wife has Calculi spur in both left and right heel due to which she cannot walk properly and there is pain. Its more than 1.5 yrs, she has done BMD scan ( average report, mostly green ), uric acid( high) but no arthritis has been deducted, Medicine she is having Osteospur for, GB 29 + last 2 months and she completed for Rabispar, AnafalmeTH, Febustat for a week some time back and T Upuri D3 (once a weekx4). Despite all this there is no change in status. When she takes pain killers, there is no pain. but its back. She also wears gels pads on shoes. We want to get a permanent treatment and heard there is some steriod injections which helps. We want to take your advise

Hi, when your diagnosed with calcaneal spur of both feet, is that is confirmed with an x ray as u have not mentioned in your query, regarding the pain it should be more painful during early morning after getting up from bed she will not be in state to walk but walks after having few steps. when ever she takes rest and walk her pain will be present. nature of the pain will be more to the heel and mid foot only. If in x ray the calcaneal spur is not visible it can be plantar fascistis a condition which is just the inflammation of the plantar fascia of the foot. this condition will also imitate as calcaneal spur spur with x ray we can differentiate between the two. once this is confirmed plan of treatment will be ultrasound therapy and wax bath for the heel with foot intrinsic exercises with foot wear correction with MCP slippers after this also if your pain continuous you can try the steroid injection with proper precautions.

For heel spur main reason is always in your foot alignment. Any new physical activity & wrong shoes can trigger the pain. Do cold pack . Silicon inserts doesnt help. For permanent relief she need corrective insoles, which can be done after detail assesment of her lower limb & walking pattern. For More details check this link: http://vcarerehab.blogspot.in/2015/04/heel-pain.html
