Burn (even superficial burn) of  40% and above are life threatening. Your father needs aggressive management with hospital admission, iv fluids, iv antibiotics and other medications. Septisemia is also very common in burn patient because the protective layer of skin is lost. Hence maintenance of asepsis is of critical importance.
