Broken front tooth
I have a broken tooth, it happened in my childhood. So my father took me to a small dentist 5 years back and he kept some kind of tooth cap and cemented that to my broken tooth. For that he even grinded my tooth which is very uncomfortable.
But in the end it is over at that time.
But after few days that new tooth cap is started becoming brown and I don't know why. It started looking very odd.
And after few days that tooth cap completely came out and the cement was gone.
From that time I'm afraid to go through that process. So I didn't went to any dentist.
But now I want to correct my broken front tooth. Can you please suggest a best way?

Hi, your tooth photo shows that previous tooth reduction might have caused pulp damage,need to check with x-ray and clinically. So this evaluation is must before a y treatment. If no damage or infection,then composite, ceramic veneer or any esthetic crown is the treatment. Before crowning increasing height of tooth structure is essential. Take care.

Things to do :- Visit a dentist and let him/her evaluate the condition.
Normally broken tooth has following treatment :-If pulp is not involved and less than 1/3rd damage is there then esthetic filling is done. If more than 1/3rd damage is there then either veneer are done or vital crown is done. If pulp is exposed then root canal followed by capping is done. Veneer are less damaging in terms of crown cutting but sometimes can come off if have deep bite. Crowns have various varieties with metal n without metal. If slight discolouration is present at the gum margins then it might be because of underlying metal, in that case you can opt for metal free crowns.

Hi,
The cap that turned brown is may be because of the metal base of the cap that is generally called as PFM (PORCELAIN FUSED TO METAL). Porcelain is the tooth colour material that is fused on metal base to give strength. there are materials now that do not need metal base. they do not have discoloration issues. There is nothing to worry about the previous work done. that was done quite well. now when you want to go for its correction, go ahead without any fear.

My advise is that now you go to the dentist who is MDS (Conservative Dentistry & Endodontist). He will do RCT (Root Canal Treatment) first because it is required now. hello,
you need to visit a dentist and get an x-ray done. if there is infection to the root of the tooth, you need to get it treated. you can then go for composite or ceramic veneers or crown. grinding the tooth before placement of the crown is a normal procedure, so do not worry about that.

For cap fixing tooth grinding is very much necessary. Generally ceramic crown will never change its colour. So confirm which type of crown/cap it was. If not replace it with ceramic or zirconia crown

Hello,
If the colour of your previous cap changed it could be a low quality acrylic crown.Grinding of the tooth to place a cap is a must and should procedure.
This time visit a cosmetic dentist and go for good quality ceramic cap.

hello,
grinding the tooth for a cap fixing is quite a normal process.. still its unclear how much of tooth was broken/ if they had done a RCT before placing the crown/cap.
you have to visit your dentist.. they will take a xray and see whats the status of the teeth...

Hi, Please take out an xray to know whether any root canal treatment is done or required.There are good materials available nowadays which come with warranty such as metal free or zirconia caps which are aesthetic wise comparable to natural teeth.

These days caps materials have improved to such an extent that you can get gurantee of lifetime. But before that get xray done just to check rct and rule out any kind of infection.
There is advancement in cap making process also. So you get caps which are far superior.

Sir, your tooth seems to be broken near gum line, so that receiving tooth structure is short to keep the cap properly. So it may need to increase its length before placing the cap nicely. Recently there is advancement in cap materials which rarely discolour in long run to give you the best aesthetic results.
