Dear Patient, Your symptoms of body pain, heaviness, lump-like feeling in thighs, numbness in forearm, neck and shoulder pain, and weakness after the 3rd dose of anti rabies vaccine are most likely vaccine-related side effects and anxiety related muscle tension, not a nerve disease. Anti rabies vaccines can commonly cause generalized body ache, fatigue, muscle soreness, and local nerve irritation for a few days because the immune system gets activated. Also, since you mentioned there was no skin break or wound at the time of puppy bite, the actual rabies risk was already extremely low. Taking vaccine was only precautionary. These symptoms do not indicate rabies and do not suggest permanent nerve damage. What you can do for relief • Take Paracetamol 650 mg for pain if needed (after food) • Magnesium or Vitamin B complex supplements for 1–2 weeks can help muscle and nerve symptoms • Gentle stretching of neck, shoulder, and back muscles • Adequate hydration and proper sleep • Warm compress or hot shower for muscle soreness When to see a doctor • Progressive weakness • Persistent numbness more than 1–2 weeks • Difficulty walking or holding objects • Severe headache or fever Neurologist consultation is usually not required unless symptoms persist or worsen beyond 10–14 days. Most people recover completely within a few days after vaccination. For further guidance and reassurance you can text me on Practo anytime.

Bodyache and fever can occur after  anti rabies vaccine, as immune reaction. There is nothing to worry. Just take tab paracetamol 500mg one every 8hours for 2 to 3 days. You will be alright.

Body pain, weakness, and mild numbness can occur as temporary side effects after anti-rabies vaccine. It usually settles in a few days.
Next Steps
Take rest, stay hydrated, and you may take paracetamol for pain. If numbness increases, weakness worsens, or walking becomes difficult, consult immediately. Please consult me for proper evaluation and treatment.

From what you described: • No skin break • No visible wound • Only pain for 1–2 days • You took ARV as precaution • Puppy died later (reason unknown) Medically:
Next Steps
For body pain & weakness: ✔ Paracetamol 500–650 mg (if needed) OR ✔ Combiflam only if no gastritis issue ✔ Hydration 2.5–3 L/day ✔ Magnesium at night ✔ Gentle stretching of neck and back ✔ Warm compress over neck/shoulders Avoid: • Overthinking symptoms • Constantly checking sensations • Googling rare complications These reactions usually settle in 3–5 days. ⸻ When To See Doctor / Neurologist You do NOT need neurologist unless: • Weakness is increasing daily • Difficulty climbing stairs • Difficulty holding objects • Persistent numbness spreading • Balance problems If symptoms remain mild and stable → observe for few days.
Health Tips
Rabies transmission requires: • Bite with skin break OR • Saliva contact with open wound/mucosa If skin was intact → no rabies transmission possible. Your symptoms are NOT rabies symptoms. Rabies does not cause generalized body pain weeks after exposure. ⸻ Right now this looks like post-vaccine reaction + anxiety-related somatic amplification. If symptoms persist beyond 5–7 days or worsen, get a physician review (not necessarily neurologist initially). If you want, tell me: • How many days since 3rd dose? • Are symptoms improving or same? I’ll guide you precisely on next step.
