It is most likely to be subconjunctival hemorrhage. If he is hypertensive, he should get it checked and controlled. Mild fluctuations in BP can often cause this. If his vision is fine no need to worry. But I would recommend you to get his retina examined once. This blood will resolve over 15 days time.
