There are many causes of recurrent venous thrombosis like Atrial fibrillation, procoagulant state etc.  So a proper assessment and investigations are advised. Cancer is also one cause of recurrent clots . If no cause was found for these clots in your mother then she needs regular follow up by your doctor who will look for specific things and advise accordingly.
