Bilateral small inguinal hernias
Hi, I am a 20 year old Male. I just got my Ultrasonography of Abdomen,Pelvis and Scrotum done. I have been diagnosed with Non-obstructive renal calculi in left kidney and bilateral small inguinal hernias. Right now I have no swelling and ever since I left weightlifting in gym I have no pain at all. I don't have any problem right now. I read online the trauma and pain of patients after hernia surgery and how they were better before the surgery and how the surgery and the "mesh" spoilt their lives forever. Is surgery inevitable in my case if I have no symptoms or pain? Please help me. This is a matter of my life and happiness. I want to live a painless and healthy life.

Hi Get examined by a surgeon to check if you have hernias. Once we develop hernia it usually does not get cured by itself. Mesh repair is one type of repair. Pain due to mesh is seen in less than 5 percent patients. There are repairs which donot require mesh. If you need surgery let the surgeon decide which repair you need. Small hernias may not need mesh repair. Good luck
