Backpain,mild spondylitis
Been suffering from low back pain since few weeks. X-ray suggests mild spondylitis at cervical and lumbar region with subtle endplate osteophytes in both regions. Questions: 1. I am getting pains around ribs region on left side (front & back) recently and also suffering from pain around left collar bone for a few months. Could these pains related to cervical spondylitis? 2. How to diagnose the pains are related to this? 3. Any sort of treatment available for the pains reported above? 4. Any treatment available for osteophytes? 5. Getting pains around ribs when sneeze or yawn, what could be the reason? I am attaching my x-ray reports for reference. Need your expert advise. Thank you so much.

Dear friend Pain you are describing are taking us towards fibromyalgia which is very common because of the back muscles weakness and usually persist for long duration. The changes shown in the x - ray are according to me not directly related to your symptoms as you are not showing any signs of arm pain. So first first of all take ice pack on the painful area along with some rest which is really important. Do this 4 to 5 times a day and see the results. If nothing happens within 3 to 4 days than please visit your nearest physio center for proper treatment.

Correct your sitting position. Sit straight, while you do work in system watch straight - do not tilt up or down. In between work time take some breaks stretch your body, walk a while. Pain around ribs or back may be poor posture. If it's not consult a general physician take a chest x-ray to rule out the problem. Do some breathing exercises. Try yoga too - visit skilled yoga instructor. Consult a physiotherapist - cervical and lumbar traction can be done. Start neck exercises 5 to 10 repetations 2 to  3 times a day. Back strengthening exercises: Lie flat on stomach - raise your leg straight. Bend backwards in standing position. Precautions : Do not bend forward, avoid stair climbing. Do not use pillow, instead of that use cervical /neck pillow or towel roll under your neck. Yoga postures :grasshopper pose, cobra pose under yoga instructor.
