Hello doctor, My baby girl is 3 months old ..her birth weight is 3.6kgs on 04/04/2026 and now her weight is 5kgs ... Her weight gain is like this.. at the time of discharge..on 10/04/2026 weight is 3.2kgs..on 06/05/2026 weight is 4.3kgs... on 07/06/2026 weight is 4.8kgs ..now her weight is 5kgs... She is on exclusive breastfeeding upto two months... Now on average 4-5 times on breastfeeding remaining on formula milk due to low milk supply..she is accepting only 60 ml of formula for 2 hours...her urine output is more than 10 times..she is playful and at night she is sleeping for 5-6hours continuously... 1.How is her weight gain? 2.she is not feeding properly...how much milk she should consume per day? Please suggest doctor... I am worried and stressed lot due to low milk supply and her feeding.

If you are worried and stressed you should not come and ask free opinions. You should visit a near by Paediatrician and get the parameters checked. Ask them about your feeding practices and show them how you are managing the cleanliness after feeds and asepsis.  This is not the way

No need to worry baby is gaining weight though slowly also if possible avoid bottle feeding to try to avoid nipple confusion. If any doubts regarding feeding can contact me or nearby pediatrician
Next Steps
feeding at regular intervals 150-170 ml every 3hrs

Greetings Your daughter’s overall weight gain of 1.8 kg from her lowest discharge weight is normal and on track for a three-month-old.Her current intake of 60 ml every two hours, combined with breastfeeding, aligns well with the typical 150 ml per kilogram daily requirement. The 10+ wet diapers, playful daytime energy, and long stretches of night sleep are excellent signs that she is getting enough hydration and nutrition. It is completely normal for weight gain to slow down slightly during the third month compared to the rapid growth of the first few weeks.

Hello, There is no need for concern. Your baby’s weight is appropriate for her age and should be around 6 kg at this stage. Try not to stress, as excessive stress can affect your milk supply. Feed your baby whenever she shows hunger cues, and allow her to latch onto each breast for about 10–15 minutes. The initial milk (foremilk) helps satisfy her thirst, while the hindmilk, which comes later in the feed, is richer in fat and supports weight gain. Since you are using both breastfeeding and bottle feeding, there may be some nipple confusion, which is common and usually improves with time. If possible, try to continue exclusive breastfeeding. If you wish to continue formula along with breastfeeding, prepare the formula in the correct proportion as instructed. Your baby is active and passing urine well, which are reassuring signs. There is no need to worry at this point. Continue regular feeds and monitor her weight during routine follow-ups.
