USE OF ANTIBIOTICS

I have heard doctor saying that a patient having fever in these months is mostly due to viral fever. But why do doctors prescribe antibiotics when there is viral fever, why don't they prescribe antiviral medicine ?

Hello,viral fever takes 5-7 days to resolve... You need only symptomatic treatment, adequate fluid and rest  for viral fever. But when their is wet cough and fever not resolving and blood reports showing raised WBC then we need to add antibiotic...that means it is bacterial infection
