From past 2 months, I got swollen tongue 3 times at night. My tongue feels little itchy sensation that leads to swelling. It is really scary. Sometimes it is right side tongue along with lip and sometimes only left side of the tongue. It will last for 24hr. I have black kind of coating formation on my teeth. My tongue press against teeth. I have lightly burning sensation in my tongue. Nothing like spots . I am scared. Please help me out, it is making my daily routine hard. I never had allergic reactions before. I have gum bleed once. It is confusing that is it something related to my teeth or not or anything serious. Please someone help me with it.

Hi.. A swollen tongue may be due to infection/ allergy/ vitamin deficiency. Last 2 months have you eaten some new or changed your tooth paste/ brush/ mouthwash? Just observe that you are getting a swollen tongue after eating a particular food. If that is not the reason then vitamin deficiency may be the reason most commonly low levels of vitamin B 12. Sometimes infections also cause swollen tongue in this case you might be associated with some fever or body pains as well.
Next Steps
As you had swollen tongue 3 times in last 2 months, it's better you visit a clinic and Dr will rule out the reason behind that by suggesting an appropriate tests. Then after diagnosing the problem treatment can be started.
Health Tips
No need to worry about this, it will be resolved once the reason has been eliminated.

this could be an allergic reaction to something. Could be some eatable or any other product like a cosmetic etc. Please note what all did you eat or use when you get such a reaction. You also get an allergy test done to know the nature of the allergen when this is happening so frequently. Also since you mentioned having bleeding gums, take a multivitamin course and vit C. Black coating on teeth could be due to food and drinks. that usually is not a concerning issue. You need to get scaling done.

Hi, You are having an allergic reaction. You need to make a note of what toothpaste you are using, what food you eat, when you develop this reaction. Suggest you get an allergen test done to know the cause. Also get a routine dental examination done. Have you changed your toothpaste in the recent past or eaten anything new ?
