Sudden fever

My grandmother all of a sudden has high fever since the afternoon, 101°F, she's taking paracetamol. She was fine all this time, but this happened all of a sudden. The fever is now less 96°F. What can be the cause?

Sudden onset of fever could be due to a viral infection and urinary tract infection. If the fever recurs do a urine analysis and CBC test.

In your case there are two most likely possibilities first is viral fever and second maybe you urinary tract infection. If you grandmother doesn't have any pre existing disease then take percetamol for fever for 2 days and if it subsided then its okay and if it doesn't suicide then you must considered a doctor for the investigation
