Small red spots - roof of mouth

2024-06-18 16:21:52
Hi doctors, First off I would like to thank the doctors who would give their time to respond to my query. So, I noticed very small red spots on the roof of my mouth this evening. I have been having a mild cold since this morning along with a bit of a runny nose. Just wanted to understand if the red spots on the roof of my mouth are dangerous or cancerous? I did not notice these spots previously on the roof of my mouth, but I noticed them today. A bit about my health history - I smoke around 3 cigarettes a day (morning, after lunch and after dinner). I do not drink alcohol. I have not tested for any diabetes and/or anything else as well recently. My height is 5'4" and I weigh around 73 kgs. Please help me out in understanding if this is in any way cancerous. Thanks and regards!

Could be mild inflammation of your palate due to the viral infection. It doesn't look cancerous
Health Tips
mouth wash with luke warm saline / water mixed with a pinch of salt

Definitely not cancerous, so relax. It could be due to your ongoing cold. You will have mild pharyngitis like symptoms, if it’s so and will resolve upon relief from cold and flu. Also, these could be mild inflammation of your palatal glands due to smoking! This condition is referred to as smokers platina. In your case it may be a very mild case. This condition may worsen to become severe in some cases. As such there’s nothing to worry about for now but for your general health and well being you should work towards quitting smoking.
Next Steps
Quit smoking

These spots are not cancerous, don’t worry about it. They might be because of a fungal infection. The picture is not very clear so, I need a clear pic to to diagnose it properly.
Next Steps
Consult.

Hello, Don't need to worry sir.... it's nothing dangerous but you need to be cautious in smoking habits to avoid dangerous conditions.

There is nothing to worry about. These spots will resolve on its own. Due to cough and cold there might be some tear in minor capillaries that are causing such red spots.
