I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat, MS (ENT).
Headaches can have various causes, but patients with sinus headaches typically present with the following features:
• Deep, dull, throbbing pain in the forehead, cheeks, or around the eyes
• Pain that worsens on bending forward or lying down
• Facial tenderness or swelling
• Nasal congestion or purulent nasal discharge (yellow or green in color)
• Postnasal drip
• Fever, particularly if an infection is present
• Sometimes, a reduced sense of smell
If you are experiencing similar symptoms, it may be indicative of a sinus-related headache. Diagnosis is confirmed through clinical evaluation and investigations such as nasal endoscopy, X-ray of the paranasal sinuses (PNS), or non-contrast CT scan of the PNS (NCCT PNS).
