Single ECF in baby's heart at 20 weeks

2023-07-27 18:55:04
Found an ECF(calcium deposit) in the left ventricle of the baby's heart during anomaly scan at 20 weeks. My double marker test reports are normal and no other structural defects. Both scanning specialist and doctor say not to worry about it at all, but still I'm not able to completely let go of the anxiety. Should I really be worried? Please provide your opinion

You should not worry about this (single echogenic focus). Firstly no action is indicated at present. Secondly the finding may not be there in the next scan. Thirdly you only have to tell the Paediatrician at the time of childbirth that this finding was there during a routine scan. His next action will also start 3-4 days after the childbirth. Theoretically it is one of the soft markers for foetal anomaly. I suppose this is a small price you have to pay for advances in technology.
