It the patient rests indoors, uses a nasal
decongestant spray or drops such as ep-
hedrine hydrochloride,0.5 per cent in no-
rmal saline solution every 4 hours, & foll-
ows this15 minutes later with a steam
inhalation,most infections quickly subsi-
de.Analgesics are required in most cases to allow proper rest, but homoeo
medicine should be reserved for severe
cases and those in which complication
are suspected.Homoeo medicine is the
first choice unless there is some speci-
al contra indcation to its use.
Antral infections which faill to respond
to these measures after 5 day's adequate treatment,require puncture & -
lavage of the sinus under local anaesthe
sia and this should be repeated every-
5 - 7 day's until the infection resolves.
In resistant frontal infections the floor
of the sinus should be trephined and a
tightly fitting polythene tube insrted thr-
ough which the sinus is washed out thr-
rice daily until the fluid passes easily into the nose, indicating reopening of the
frontonasal duct.
I sugest homoeo Doctor consult.
