Paroxetine(12.5) usage
I was prescribed by psychiatrist to take paroxetine 12.5 for 1st week and 25mg after 1 week for one month.
I just took for 2 days , the 12.5mg tablet, and the second day I felt heavy in my head feeling like muscles are tightening in head as well as in face.
I was feeling facial muscles also got tightened or squeezed and was feeling same in head .
I stopped after 2 days.
Can I take this tablet once in a week or how shall I proceed ?.

Hi . Usually the side effects due to SSRIs subside in a 2 week period . The point is to take the prescribed dose regularly. No use if u take it occasionally. Need further history like for what condition you were prescribed the above medications.

Were you experiencing this symptom before starting paroxetine as well? If yes, it could be due to the disorder(anxiety/depression etc) itself rather than the medication. Side effects are also common in the first 2 weeks and become less later. Nevertheless, if it's intolerable to you, kindly consult with a psychiatrist again. Had you stated the reason for your visit to the Psychiatrist, it would have been easier
Assuming it was for Anxiety related issues, the side effects could actually be Anxiety induced itself rather than medication induced. It will be unwise to stop so early unless it is nearly intolerable.
