Pain on the back side of the neck

Its been a month since I've been suffering from pain on the back side of my neck. I guess I could be due to studying for long hours sitting on an uncomfortable chair. But it never happened before. Whenever I move my neck around I hear that cracking sound. Also it it hurting whenever I lay down or do some sort of stuff. While sleeping too it hurts.
