Well it's basically a screening test done usually between 14-20 weeks of pregnancy for genetic abnormalities like down's syndrome, neural tube defects and so on...in that we test for three hormones which out of which one would be solely releasedfrom foetus and other one partially by foetus and the. Placenta...so both low and high levels would be significant...thank you
