Nail injury - lunula damage

I've ripped a small portion of my nail off at the base of my thumb. I currently have half my lunula showing whilst the other half has no nail remaining and is the nail bed - which is raised and red. How long will this take to heal? and will my lunula heal back to a full half moon? or will this just heal over with 'clear nail'

It will heal if there is no secondary infection. The new nail that grows back from the nailbed should be normal but the exist nail which will grow out may be disfigured
