Halitosis, or bad breath, is usually due to inflammation of the gums caused by the accumulation of plaque and tartar around the roots of the teeth. This can be eliminated by having periodic scaling and polishing every six months by your dentist. It can also be caused by dental decay. Dryness of the mouth due to Diabetes may also cause bad breath. You should check with your doctor to ensure that your diabetic condition is well-controlled, and take frequent sips of water during the course of the day to hydrate the mouth.
