Longer periods after stopping Novelon

I was given Novelon in January. My periods came from Febuary onwards. I took it till April.  It was my middle of the April cycle when after consulting doctor I stopped taking Novelon as I wanted to plan baby from my May period onwards. Till the time I took Novelon my period was normal like 4 to 5 days. But after I stopped, my very next period is continuing for 8 days. I am not facing any cramps or excessive bleeding but light spotting and light bleeding is continuing. Why my periods is so lenghty? Will I be able to conceive in my May period?
