Fracture healing takes a long time. Pain may go away within 6 weeks. Swelling may persist if u keep bearing weight on the limb. Visit your ortho doc regularly for follow ups. U wil be absolutely fine by 3 months.

For a fractured lateral malleolus the usual time for cast is 4-6 weeks. You may have swelling if you keep the leg down instead of keeping it elevated..Pain usually subsides by 4 weeks.. Get it checked clinically if pain is continuing.
