Usually you don't need any antibiotic for kidney or ureteric stones unless you have a urinary tract infection.

Hello .. Most of time antibiotics is not needed for renal calculus unless you have local infection. This is malpractice if someone giving you Iv antibiotics for stone without having infection. Please don’t go for Amikacin injections.. this antibiotics has lot of side effects. If you have burning ruination associated with fever or chills you can go for urine specific antibiotics. For 6 mm stone better you drink lot of water , take painkillers only . If symptoms persist go for operative .

About Amikacin: • Amikacin is a strong injectable antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group. • It is often used to prevent or treat infections that can happen due to ureteric stones (e.g., urinary tract infection). ⸻ ⚠️ Side Effects of Concern: Blurred vision and lightheadedness are not very common but may indicate a reaction or side effect like: • Inner ear toxicity (ototoxicity) – aminoglycosides can affect balance and hearing. • Kidney toxicity (nephrotoxicity) – usually seen in higher doses or prolonged use. • Sudden drop in blood pressure – rare, but possible after IV antibiotics. These symptoms should not be ignored. ⸻ ✅ What You Should Do: 1. Stop the injection temporarily and consult your prescribing doctor immediately. 2. Ask for a kidney function test (KFT) and hearing/balance evaluation if not already done. 3. Switch to an oral alternative if no signs of active infection are present (and your doctor agrees). ⸻
