In an arm wrestling wid my friend in hostel,i completely broke my humerus...i.e above the elbow,below the shoulder......i had an operation after two days and the doctor used an extra articular plate.......how long will it take to heal fully????? When can i go to gym again???

Hi.... Recovery time depends on fracture type, mechanism of injury and the patient's age and underlying health. In general, an elderly person with a proximal humeral fracture never regains full range of movement, whether treated conservatively or surgically. The aim is rehabilitation to a functional range of movement. Generally recovery takes at least one year but union is expected at 6-8 weeks....
