Hmfd disease

My daughter suddenly developed a fever of 101°F, and the next day she had ulcers in her mouth along with small bumps on her hands and feet. It has been 3 days now, and she still has a fever ranging from 101°F to 102°F. We first went to one doctor who prescribed fever medicine and azithromycin, which I gave her for 3 days. Today we went to a new doctor who said it’s HFMD (Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease). He prescribed paracetamol, amoxicillin, and lactic acid bacillus powder. I’m confused why the doctor prescribed an antibiotic (amoxicillin) if this is a viral illness. Should I really give her amoxicillin? Also, the rashes are very painful, and she is unable to eat. What can I apply on them

Given that HFMD is a viral illness, amoxicillin (an antibiotic) is generally not indicated. It's common for parents to be confused by this, and it's a valid concern.    * Possible Reason for Prescription (Speculation): Sometimes, antibiotics are prescribed if there's a suspicion of a secondary bacterial infection (e.g., if mouth sores appear to be severely infected, or if a doctor is ruling out other conditions). However, for uncomplicated HFMD, it's not the standard.
Health Tips
hydrate the child
