According to your history, there is thinning of hairs and hair loss, similar history of hair problem in father is there. This is a type of Hair loss commonly seen in males. This occurs due to hormonal effects on hairs of scalp. There is no cure but you can maintain it with treatment. You can stop further thinning and loss of hairs. This treatment is available.

Might be a case of androgenetic alopecia. Detailed case study required. For strong family history of baldness, only the rate of hair thinning can be slowed down. But action needs to be taken asap as it is a progressive condition.
Next Steps
consult a qualified trichologist at the earliest
