Hello! Would like to know if it is good to give gutti( consists of turmeric, vaza, jajikai, chittarathai, manual and kudukkal..... mixed with breast milk and warmed up) to new born babies and infants? If no, kindly help me understand why it's okay to give paracetamol to babies but not Ayurvedic medicine! Thank you so much in advance

Gutti is not advisable for newborn and infant... Paracetamol is a drug, and studies show no harm in giving newborn if fever present... Gutti, there is no studies of any ayurvedic drugs which found useful in 1st 6months of life... If ur giving anything than BF will increase chances of infection in newborns which may cause morbidity or mortality, so in country like India it's not advisable to give anything than BF...

Hi, Gutti is not advisable in the babies as we don’t have any studies to prove it’s safety Paracetamol is given only when the baby’s temperature crosses more than 99.4 deg F and not on regular basis and it’s safety is will proved worldwide.
Next Steps
Only breast milk must be given till 6 months and breast milk will have all the nutrition required for the baby .

Hi! First point warming breast milk is not advised , it would change or damage the useful properties of breast milk. WHO recommends exclusive breast milk till 6months of age & anything apart from breast milk is not recommended. Paracetamol is safest medicine for all ages . While Ayurvedic medicines there are no studies proven till now of its use/safety in children and esp in infants it’s a No No. any medicine without knowing of the actual composition of any medicine should not be used strictly. As a pediatrician I would not recommend.
