Folliculitis is an infection of the hair follicles commonly caused by some gram positive bacteria. These bacteria are often resistant to common antibiotics such as Amoxicillin + clavulinic acid (Augmentin), so it may not help. You will require a pus culture and sensitivity if it indeed is folliculitis.
Presence of a source of infection elsewhere in the body is also responsible for recurrence.
Another thing you must rule out in case of recurrence is a high blood
sugar, which is a source of nutrition for the organisms.
Kindly share photographs of the lesions with me via direct online consultation on Practo so that I can confirm the diagnosis and give appropriate treatment or visit a certified dermatologist near you.
