Excessive periods bleeding

My wife periods got delayed by 15days for the first time and pregnancy test confirmed negative. However she got her periods about 12days back but excessive bleeding till date. She consulted a doctor who prescribed pause 300 tablet which she is taking for last 3days but it doesn't seem to reduce. Pls suggest.
