Chest pains post accident
Dear doctors,
On 15-apr-17, i met with an car accident. I didnt had any serious injuries, though i felt mild shooting pain in my sternum area.
I went to hospital and did ECG and x-ray also both were normal as per doctor and they gave me a pain killer shot.
Though in night it again started paining, mild but the pain is still there.
Kinly let me know if it pain was related:
to the impact during accident/ inhaled air stayed in lungs which caused air retaintion in lungs/ any other reasons.
Since there is no rib breakage im not sure how to treat this pain. Also note that, while inhaling it is not paining.
Your any input would be highly appreciated.

People suffering from car accidents may have a superficial or deep trauma to the chest which presents as pain in chest.
X - Ray and ECG are normal which reveals that there is no deep seated fracture of ribs or internal injury.
The event must have caused superficial injury to the chest causing pain
Treatment is to take a short course of pain relieving medications.
