My father has been diagnosed with Cellulitis in his left leg, right from the foot till almost the knee, it had become red and swollen.Consulted a doctor and he prescribed antibiotics.Started the medicines from the 6th of this month. After 10 days of antibiotics usage, we consulted the doctor and he asked us to continue it for 2 more days. The swelling and redness reduced. We got the color doppler test and it was normal. We visited the doctor as the pain was not subsiding on the bone on the outer side of the leg.The doctor did a small incision and said that there is no pus and put a bandage and asked us to remove it after 3 days. The swelling around the ankle bone is still present and he is not able to walk properly, while he is walking for his daily needs within the house. Keeping his leg in the elevated position still. Dad is diabetic but under control. Hypertensive, again under control. Serum creatinin, lipid profile parameters are all fine. Would it take more time for complete healing?

Hi there I understand your concern...considering your history your father is responding to the treatment given by your doctors... Since he is diabetic it may take little longer to heal completely... Most people with cellulitis respond to the antibiotics in 2 to 3 days and begin to improve. In rare cases, the cellulitis may spread through the bloodstream and become serious...be in a regular fallow up with your treating doctor they will guide you further.
