I have been detected with right curved C-shaped scoliosis. The convex side is on my right side, my left shoulder is little lowered. I am uncomfortable. I don't know how this has happened. What should be done to recover from my condition?

It looks as Adolescent Idiopathic scoliosis Confirmation by doing MRI Now if u are thinking for cosmetic part then it had to corrected by surgery Though ur shoulder are fairly balanced and I personally dont feel that surgery is needed, Only observation If any given time u feel that it is increasing or shoulder is at different levels ,then u need correction which can be done surgically Remember surgery is for cosmetic purposes only Best wishes Dr Amit Jain Spine and orthopaedic surgeon Mumbai

Scoliosis at your age mostly doesn't have a known cause & thus its called Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) . Although having said that to  confirm its AIS or not have to do further tests including MRI and detailed physical examination It's a cosmetic problem at your age as you mentioned one shoulder would be higher than the other Treatment consists of 1)Observation of the curve with 6 monthly full length Spine Xrays called Scannograms to watch over how fast its worsening 2)Braces have a limited or no role in your case 3) Regular Breathing exercises & Back Strengthening programme 4)Surgical correction can be considered at this moment if  its very noticeable right now or can be done later if it's progressing ( i.e if curve is worsening ) very fast . Consult orthopaedic dr near you. You need further evaluation and explanation. Scoliosis if not causing any breathing problem or progression - you can leave it alone.
