Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold).

Hi good morning if your ACL ligament tear is in grade 2-3 then you should go for Surgery n then go for rehab which most important. If injury is grade 1 tear then avoid surgery n go to a good sports Physiotherapist n do 1-2 month Roshan program. Hope this will clear your debut. Regards Dr Amit Girey

Need for surgery after ACL tear entirely depends on your symptoms and how much it is affecting your lifestyle. If the knee starts to be unstable during routine day-to-day activities then you will may need surgery. If you intend to return to sports you may need surgery. You need to do an intense rehabilitation of the knee for a few months and work on maintaining the strength of your knee. If inspite of this your knee does not feel stable or is giving way, then surgery may be the answer. The knee pain can also be due to meniscal tear or due to damage to cartilage. Do your rehabilitation and see your symptoms. If needed only then surgery is considered. Every surgery carries with it certain risks and you must.always weigh the risks and benefits. Hope this helps. ACL is the most commonly injured knee ligament . Young patients with ACL injury and instability need surgical reconstruction. The reason for surgery is to make the knee stable and avoid further damage to the meniscus/ cartilage. If you are an active sports person then you need ACL reconstruction .

Hi.. You Acl injury recovery depends on the level of its damage.. I would like to know the exact grade of the injury. .If it is grade 3 then definitely you will require a surgical repair.. If it is grade 2 ...less than 50 percent damage then we can rely on rehab for 6 weeks for recovery .. Mist of the times patients recovered very well...and avid surgery... So kindly get in touch with me with your MRI scan we can discuss further about the management protocol... Hope this is helpful..
Health Tips
Ice your painful area... frequently.. move around carefully...as your knee likely to buckle....
