ACL AND MENISCUS TEAR
Hi, On July 25 I met with an accident and my knee was slipping so I went to hospital there they asked me to take MRI and my results are near full thickness tear anterior cruciate ligament, grade 1 sprain in MCL, grade 2 sprain in LCL and meniscus tear in both mcl and lcl. In the first week there was no swelling or pain but from yesterday its swelling and paining and at the end of this month my marriage what should I do now.. Does all these heal on itz own or I need to go for surgery kindly advise whether can I walk or not. Herewith attached MRI report.

Start with ice packs , ointment , brace for the painful period . Anti inflammatory medicines . Once you are symptomatically better , start with knee exercises . Give it 6 weeks and then depending on the recovery decision can be made.

The swelling and pain after a week is probably due to the patellofemoral joint issues which are usually overlooked. The difficulty that you must be facing in getting up after sitting and stairs is due to the patellofemoral joint issues.
