About mouth cancer
I am a 22 year old young man. 6 months ago I had a blister on my cheek near my wisdom tooth. Initially it was painful and red and was also a little raised, but after some time the pain and redness disappeared and a white round spot remained which was not healing. I consulted many dentists, all of them advised me to get my wisdom tooth removed. Then I got my wisdom tooth removed 2 months ago but still this white spot has not healed completely. I used to eat paan masala earlier, but as soon as this problem occurred, I stopped eating it. Now I am not used to it. Now I am scared and worried that I might have mouth cancer. Please tell me what this is and whether it can cause mouth cancer.

Since the mouth leison has remained unhealed for many months together, even after removal of the cause(sharp tooth), suggest a biopsy from this ulcer. We can confirm if any malignancy is there in the biopsy.

Thank you for sharing your concern in detail. I have carefully reviewed your history and the photographs you attached. Based on the images, there is no obvious growth or suspicious lesion visible. However, since you describe a persistent white patch that has not healed for several months, it is important not to ignore it. Sometimes such white patches in the mouth can be due to irritation, scarring, or chronic trauma, but in certain cases they may represent conditions such as leukoplakia, which carries a small risk of transforming into oral cancer if left unchecked. Your previous habit of paan masala further increases the importance of careful monitoring. My advice: • You have already taken the right step by stopping paan masala. Please continue to avoid all forms of tobacco, areca nut (supari), and alcohol. These are the strongest risk factors for oral cancer. • Maintain good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups. • Since the white spot has persisted beyond 2–3 weeks, I strongly recommend that you undergo an oral examination by an oral medicine specialist or ENT surgeon. If they feel it is necessary, they may advise a small biopsy to rule out precancerous change. • Do not panic—most such patches turn out to be benign, but getting a clear diagnosis is the safest approach. In summary, while there is no visible cancerous lesion in the photographs, persistence of a white patch requires professional evaluation and sometimes biopsy. You are young, you have quit harmful habits, and with timely medical attention you can ensure long-term oral health.
