Dr Thenmozhi Needhirajan obtained her MBBS degree from Stanley Medical College, Chennai in 1992. She completed her post graduate diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai before she moved off to England for further training and membership in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She got trained in various hospitals in England (Stoke-0n-trent, Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Southampton and Poole) as a specialist Registrar under Type 1 training programme from 2001 to 2007 for seven years.
During this time she worked with various subspecialty Consultants (High risk Obstetrics – Dr David Davies & Dr Pippa White, UroGynaecology- Mr Tim Sayer and Mr Tim Hillard, Gyne Endoscopy with special interest in Hysteroscopic surgeries – Mr Tyrone Carpenter & Miss Sally Davies and Gynae oncology- Mr Richard Henry). During this time she was awarded MRCOG by the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists.
After seven years of speciality training she obtained her CCT (Certificate of completion of Training) in 2007 from British Medical Council. As a post CCT Fellow she joined University College London Hospitals in the year 2008 to undergo fellowship in Maternal Medicine and Gynae Endoscopy. In 2009 she joined as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Poole Hospitals NHS Trust.
Now she works as a consultant obstetrician & gynaecologist at Kurinji Hospital, Coimbatore. She has set up an Ambulatory Gynae Unit called CEMENDS which is a centre for Menstrual Disorders & Gynae Endoscopy and the unit provides office hysteroscopy both diagnostic & operative, colposcopy, and various Non hysterectomy options like TCRE (Trans cervical resection of endometrium), TCRF (Trans cervical resection of Fibroid) , Novasure endometrial ablation for abnormal uterine bleeding and corrective uterine surgeries like uterine Septoplsty. Also the unit provides Fertility enhancing Hysteroscopic / laparoscopic surgeries, Assisted Reproductive Techniques .Hysteroscopic tubal cannulations and Tension Free Tapes for Urinary Incontinence.
She has peer reviewed publications in the international journals and presented in various national and international scientific meetings.read less
