Dr Shanmugasundaram, Consultant urologist at SS Urology centre, obtained his superspeciality degree in Urology from the prestigious Christian Medical College, Vellore during 2008, and went on to obtain his DNB degree in the specialty. He has worked as a Faculty in the same department of Urology where he got his speciality training and was associate professor of Urology till 2012. During the stay of a decade of tenure in the department of Urology, CMC vellore, he has done more than 100 renal transplant surgeries and 220 renal donor surgeries, has expertise in laparoscopic donor nephrectomies and multivessel renal transplant. He has special interest is in the fields of reconstructive urology and renal transplantation. Currently he is heading the department of Urology, MIOT hospitals from 2012 till today. He is an avid academician with 24 peer reviewed publications in various national and international journals. He is a lifetime member of Urological society of India, European association of Urology, Indian society of Organ transplantation, Indian medical association and National academy of medical sciences. Dr. Shanmugasundaram constantly strives to update his knowledge and technical know-how in order to be able to give the best treatment to patients who seek his care. He has attended and presented his research findings in various national and international conferences. His passion for delivering the state of art technically sound surgical skills to common men and women with urological issues has kept him to seek for various innovations and refinement in his skills.
