He is fully fellowship trained from the UK, and worked as a senior orthopaedic surgeon in prominent centres across the UK , including Sheffield teaching hospitals NHS trust.
He has previously worked in MIOT International, Chennai as the Head of the Department of Arthroscopy and Sports medicine for nearly 10 years. He was instrumental in starting the course of Fellowship of the National Board in Sports Medicine, accredited to the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences and was the Programme Director for the same until his tenure in MIOT.
Dr Billy is an expert in Partial, Total and Robotic assisted Knee replacements, Knee preservation surgery including cartilage restoration and osteotomies, Ligament reconstruction, meniscal repairs, arthroscopic surgeries and treatment / management of Sports injuries of all joints (Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, Hip, Knee and ankle). He also performs advanced trauma surgery, hip and shoulder replacements.
He has operated on many prominent professional sportspersons, who have regained their sporting prowess following focussed rehabilitation. Besides, he has also trained and developed an excellent team of physiotherapists who rehabilitate the patients to achieve their expected level of return to sports or activities of daily living.
He has completed his MBBS from Trivandrum Medical College in 1998, M.S. Orthopaedics from Manipal Academy Of Higher Education, Manipal, India in 2002, MRCS (UK) from Royal College Of Surgeons Of Edinburgh, UK in 2006 and FRCS in Trauma and Orthopaedics from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK in 2012.
