Dr. G.K Kannan completed his medical training (M.B.B.S) and psychiatry training (M.D Psychiatry) at the Madras Medical College in Chennai. After working over a year as a lecturer in the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Unit in Christian Medical College, he proceeded to Australia where he obtained Fellowship of Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and completed sub-specialist training in Child &Adolescent Psychiatry. He has been working in Psychiatry for over 13 years and in Child Psychiatry for over 6 years.Comprehensive Psychiatric assessment for adults and children/adolescents is offered at his clinic. He has experience in both psychotherapeutic techniques and medication treatment options enable him to offer holistic care. Formal training in mindfulness meditation-based interventions such as ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) for adults and young people provides him with the ability to offer treatment packages with a blend of the east and the west.Dr. Kannan also has training in behavior therapy for management of disruptive behaviors in children and circle of security training, which is of immense benefit for children with attachment difficulties. I have been visiting Dr.Kannan for past two years. I took treatment for panic and anxiety disorders.
He always sits back and listen to my stories. After listening, he would explain me the positive side of me that how I managed the situation in an effective way.
Apart from medication, he is one doctor who really want me to improve my mindfulness over my life.
At the beginning of my treatment, I was not so confident without going out with medicines. But after practising his techniques over a month, I start to regain my confidence.
Now I can see that my state of mind is improving a lot. Even though I got relieved from the disorders, I am still practising those techniques for the betterment of my mind.
In summary, this man knows what he is dealing with and he is capable of resolving the problem.

I have been visiting / seeing Dr. Kannan for the last 8 to 9 months for the treatment of acute depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and depression related issues.

It was as usual an amazing experience with Dr. Kannan and Dr. Jeyanthini. Strongly recommend. Their treatment was good, correct assessment. I'm happy to see significant improvement in my son.
One minor concern is with the compounder/receptionist. Pls consider replacing her.

He was great dealing with the issues from its root. He found that a mother’s stress is one of the reasons that’s a hindrance for child growth. Parenting is an important task that has to be done happily so he found the reason and gave me and my husband counseling on how to take care of the issues. He never prescribed any medicines at the same time it was more of suggestions and ideas that he shared how to deal with the issues.
I would highly recommend doctor Kannan for any psychological issues.
