Dr. Pupun Patnayak is a highly experienced Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist with over a decade of clinical training and practice across leading hospitals in India. He completed his MBBS from VSS Government Medical College, Burla (Sambalpur University), followed by his DNB in Paediatrics from the prestigious Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bengaluru, and a rigorous Fellowship in Neonatology from Rangadore Memorial Hospital, Bengaluru (RGUHS) — one of South Bangalore's largest Level III NICUs.
His neonatal career spans institutions of national repute, including Columbia Asia Hospital, Sparsh Women & Children Hospital, and Aster Women & Children Hospital, Whitefield — where he served as Consultant Neonatologist & Paediatrician and rose to Clinical In-charge of the NICU. During his tenure at Aster, he was part of a team that grew NICU admissions from 420 to 666 annually and helped scale deliveries from 500 to over 1,259 per year. A career highlight was successfully managing an extreme premature baby born at 23 weeks and 5 days, weighing just 470 grams, with a good neurological outcome at 18 months.
He has trained extensively in advanced neonatal procedures including mechanical ventilation (conventional and HFOV with iNO), PICC line insertion, exchange transfusion, therapeutic hypothermia, functional ECHO, and neonatal transport. He has been an NRP trainer, workshop organiser, and academic contributor with publications in IJCP and the Aster Journal of Neonatology.
